This module aims to explore how key psychological perspectives are applied in HCI research. This module highlights 5 key domains within psychology – cognitive, social, developmental, biological and clinical- and reviews how these perspectives can be applied in innovative ways to inform HCI research.

This module will:
-Consider how other disciplines inform HCI
-Discuss state of the art research from across HCI
-Critically consider research approaches and methodologies

-Critically reflect on state of the art research in HCI

Indicative Module Content:

Week 1- Introduction to Psychological Perspectives in HCI
Week 2 & 3- Cognitive perspectives
Week 4 & 5- Social perspectives
Week 6 & 7- Developmental perspectives
Week 8 & 9- Biological perspectives
Week 10 & 11- Clinical perspectives

Further SDGs explored within this module if relevant are listed below. A scale of 1 - 5 indicates the extent to which the SDG is covered.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
This module will be taught via lectures interspersed with peer discussions and critical reflection on the content. Assessment strategies will aim to promote presentation skills and critical reflection on research practices and ethics.
