Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Media & Communication Thesis
The module is based on active learning through research, writing, and presentation tasks.
The module relies on a student-centered approach that emphasizes independent research,
critical thinking, and reflective practice. Students will work together with their supervisor
to carry out their thesis project, which should address a specific research problem and/or
specialism relevant to the student and the member of staff. Students will be able to
approach members of the School’s academic staff to solicit feedback on their work. By
carrying out a research project by themselves, students will develop research skills to apply
them to specific research problems relevant to the topic, from both theoretical and
empirical perspectives. Central to this module are the one-on-one meetings that students
will have with their supervisor to discuss their progress and receive guidance.
