IS40390 Research Practice

Academic Year 2022/2023

The purpose of this module is to gain hands-on experience in collaborative research or real world projects. Students will work 1:1 or in small groups with academic staff on a specific research or service learning project. Students MUST find an academic staff member who agrees to supervise them before enrolling on this module. You should access the research profiles of staff (https://www.ucd.ie/ics/about/ourstaff/) and contact those who are doing research that interests you. Ask them if they are running projects this year that will be supporting student projects. If you find a staff member who is prepared to take you on, you should then ask them exactly what you will be doing and how it will be assessed. Tasks will vary depending on the specifics of the project. There isn't one fixed assessment method for this module as it depends on the project.
Once you have found a supervisor, you may then register for the module. At that point, please also email judith.wusteman@ucd.ie to let her know who your supervisor is.
