Déanfar staidéar ar stair agus ar chúlra sóisialta na scannánaíochta Gaeilge ó na chéad scannáin Ghaeilge ar aghaidh go dtí scannáin agus cláracha teilifíse an lae inniu. Pléifear léann na scannánaíochta i gcomhthéacs náisiúnta agus idirnáisiúnta, comhaimseartha agus stairiúil, le béim ar theoiricí sóisialta, cultúrtha agus teangeolaíocha. Forbrófar scileanna anailíseacha a bhaineann le critic na scannánaíochta tríd síos. Pléifear forbairt agus ábhar na gcláracha Gaeilge ar RTÉ ó na seascaidí ar aghaidh agus déanfar léirmheas ar fhóras TG4 mar stáisiún náisiúnta Gaeilge. Cuirfear béim ar scannáin agus ar chláracha nua-aimseartha i gcomhthéacs forbairtí sochtheangeolaíocha agus fheidhm na Gaeilge comhaimseartha. Díreofar aird ar leith ar scannáin Ghaeilge a eisíodh le blianta beaga anuas, 'An Cailín Ciúin' san áireamh. Féachfar ar scannáin agus ar chláracha ó sheánraí éagsúla mar chuid den mhodúl. Iarrfar ar mhic léinn féachaint ar ábhar breise taobh amuigh den seomra ranga chomh maith.

Ag deireadh an mhodúil, beidh na mic léinn in ann:

1. Eolas a léiriú ar mhodhanna, ar theicnící, ar stair, ar éabhlóid agus ar ábhar chláracha agus scannán Gaeilge;
2. Aiste chritice a scríobh ar théamaí agus ar ghnéithe sochtheangeolaíocha na scannánaíochta Gaeilge;
3. Tuairisc a thabhairt ar ról na gcláracha Gaeilge i bhforbairt na teanga trí chéile;
4. Anailís a dhéanamh ar theicnící scannánaíochta trí léirmheasanna ar shamplaí éagsúla;
5. Eolas a léiriú ar chomhthéacs scannánaíocht na Gaeilge ar ardán domhanda na scannánaíochta Éireannaí.
