HUM30030 Internship- Spring (Humanities)

Academic Year 2021/2022

This module centres on a 12/14-week internship with a host (state body; charitable organization; arts or cultural organization; or industry partner) and is supported by pre-placement workplace training. The purpose of the module is to enhance core skills, attitudes and competencies that are not only fundamental features of your degree programme, but are also portable, relevant to diverse workplace settings, and important for the deepening understanding of what constitutes active and engaged critical citizenship. You will develop your personal organizational and communication skills (written and oral) through continuous work practice and further cultivate your awareness of the intellectual, cultural, social and practical requirements of specific working environments. You are expected to reflect actively and critically on your skills and knowledge in ways that will help you to engage in the planning of your future learning and career pathway. You will demonstrate the consolidation and enhancement of your learning by means of critical, reflective writing and poster presentation on your working experience.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module you will demonstrate:
a) career development awareness through practical actions and reflective written work

Indicative Module Content:

Your host will provide a job spec that outlines your role and responsibilities with your host organisation.

Your assessment for this module (Weekly journal and end-of-trimester project), will require you to provide reflective and critical analysis of your learning experience and its relationship to your disciplinary knowledge, skills and understanding.
