Successful management of a workforce is integral to companies seeking to improve and sustain their competitive advantage. Students will explore the key features of effective programmes that align an organisation’s values to employee wellness, diversity and inclusion, ensuring engagement and buy in from all employee cohorts.Students will have the opportunity to explore the characteristics of successful wellness programmes based on research and case study examples. The business case for a company's wellness and diversity programmes will also be investigated. In addition to company wellness, this module is designed to equip students with an understanding of the dynamics of employee diversity and issues of equality in employment and how they can contribute to a successful and engaged workplace.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module you should be able
• To identify the key social, legal, economic, political and cultural trends in the labour market, policies, and legislation regarding company wellness and diversity programmes particularly in Europe and Asia
• To be able to analyse the business case debates for employee wellbeing and diversity programmes
• To demonstrate an understanding of a corporate culture of health and how to establish and nurture one
• To identify and critically examine the main mechanisms for promoting wellbeing and diversity in workplace, including company leadership, state, trade union and organisational initiatives.
• To identify types of workplaces with regard to their diversity policies, and to have knowledge and skills to analyse these policies with a view to the further development of an organisation's agenda.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will attend classes for this module and have the opportunity to engage in active learning during these sessions. There will be in-class discussion and group work to analyse module concepts. Where appropriate, the module will incorporate case based learning.
