The focus of the module is the exploration of the employment and human resource practices of multinational companies (MNCs). MNCs exercise considerable influence over governments, international institutions and workforces. This module discusses how MNCs of different national origin operate in different business environments and manage the employment relationship within their subsidiaries. The module investigates topics, including varieties of MNCs, similarities and variations in MNCs’ employment and HR practices, and government and labour responses.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should have acquired:- knowledge of the key theories and concepts regarding international HRM;- a solid understanding of the influences shaping MNCs' employment and HR practices;- the ability to recognise and address ethical dilemmas in regard to the IHRM practices of MNCs;
