On completion of this module students should be able to:
Display an understanding of the basic principles dietary analysis and measurements of body composition and energy expenditure using a variety of techniques.
Students will understand the structuring, planning and ethics involved in conducting basic nutrition research.
Student will understand how to analyse and interpret dietary intake data.
This module can be considered in 3 components.
1 - The theory of Nutritional Research, covering Dietary Intake, Body Composition and Energy Expenditure
2 - Practical demonstration of dietary intake, and body composition measurements.
3 - Development of statistical analysis skills using SPSS
The theory of the techniques in the above areas, and examples of how they are used in nutrition related research will be covered.

Feedback will be given in a variety of ways. Worksheets will be graded and individual feedback given as submitted throughout the semester. Marks and feedback for the SPSS class test will be given within the required period.
