This module will introduce basic concepts of immunology, endocrinology and metabolic balance. The main focus will be on the physiology of key biological systems in the study of Human Nutrition. The module will examine the relationship between diet and chronic diseases such as cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, obesity, cancer and diabetes.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should be able to understand basic concepts of the immune and endocrine systems, understand in detail the physiology of key biological systems in the study of Human Nutrition, the relationship between diet and disease for specific public health nutrition related disorders.
