This module supports graduate students in developing the professional skills required to communicate historical research effectively. Students will collaboratively design, organise, and prepare for an MA-level research conference, which will take place in on Friday 24 April 2026

Students will be assigned to workshop groups and will meet with the module co-ordinator for four two-hour workshops during the trimester (at times designated by the module co-ordinator). These workshops will provide structured opportunities for students to develop their thesis ideas for presentation, receive feedback, and complete a series of guided tasks related to conference preparation and academic communication.

Active participation is a core component of this module. Students are required to attend the conference, deliver a research presentation, and contribute appropriately to the organisation of the event. These activities constitute the primary means through which the module’s learning outcomes are achieved, and satisfactory engagement with them is therefore necessary in order to pass the module.
