On completion of this module students will have gained experience of:
Power-point skills;
Assessing the work of others;
composing Abstracts;
Group work and review;
Preparing and delivering a conference paper;
Event management and team work.
Week 1: Introduction - the conference and its purpose. Week 2: Power-point Presentation Skills. Week 4: Conference organisation and discussion of sample conference Abstracts. Week 7: Presentation and submission of the Abstract of the conference paper (250 words) and Peer-review of the Power-point slides. Week 9: One-day Conference with 15-minute presentations on their dissertation topics. Week 10: Submission of final paper.

Peer review feedback - both group and individual - is provided on an ongoing basis in class through group discussion and critique of in-class exercises and during the final one-day conference. Feedback on the end-of-semester Written Paper Assignment is given by appointment in one-to-one meetings.
