This module consists of research seminars held weekly in the School of Earth Sciences over the course of one trimester. Seminars are normally given by external (frequently international) speakers, selected by the School's academic staff. The series covers a wide range of scientific topics, occasionally tailored to meet the needs of specific research groups and themes within the School, but are typically of interest to all members of the School.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

The Seminar Series provides PhD students with opportunities to deepen their knowledge within their own particular research field, while the range of topics covered during the series maintains and enhances their breadth of knowledge across Geological and Earth Sciences. Additionally, the seminars provide PhD students with opportunities to establish personal contact with leading researchers from outside the School.

Indicative Module Content:

Typically the Research seminars will run for 1 hour to include a presentation by the speaker followed by a question and answer session.
