GDIC1016K Chemistry Experiments 2

Academic Year 2023/2024

General Chemistry Experiments Ⅱ is designed for Stage 1 Students who are undertaking dual undergraduate degree programmes at Guangzhou-Dublin International College. General Chemistry Experiments works to improve the ability of all chemical undergraduates to make meaningful chemical analysis and measurements. The module specifically aims to develop students’ practical skills of chemical experiments. General Chemistry Experiments Ⅱ including organic chemistry experiment and physical chemistry experiment. The module is designed for students to grasp the fundamental Chemistry experimental skills, such as filtration and recrystallization, washing and drying, extraction and sublimation, reflux, distillation, paper chromatography, potential method, batteries, electrode potential.
Experiments are guided by the theoretical knowledge. Practices are taught in addition to develop students’ chemistry experimental skills so they can deeply understand and apply the concepts and chemistry theories. Students will often be expected to work collaboratively in both theories and experimental classes. They should master the sample processing, record data correctly, and make correct judgment and analysis of the experimental error and its source.
