GDIC1006K Introduction of Life Sciences

Introduction of Biological Science is designed for First year Students who are undertaking undergraduate degree in Life Sciences at Guangzhou-Dublin International College. The Induction course specifically aims to develop students’ theoretic basis with an overview of life sciences on their degree programmes. Students develop their general knowledge especially for the basic concepts, and new theory for several subjects in life sciences, including Biochemistry, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Genetics and Molecular Biology, and seminars.

Classes are taught together with first year students in College of Life Sciences. Each subject and seminar will be taught by the professors who expertise in the research field.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon successful completion of the course, students should be able to:

• Know the main subjects in Life Sciences.
• Understand the basic concepts and brief history of Life Science.
• Know the new research progress in each subject
• Research, plan and write an essay on a topic of general interest in Life Sciences.
• Get a future study frame according to individual interests.
