This module provides an outline of forest policy in Ireland. The impact of EU forest policy on Irish forest policy is also considered. The historical development of forestry in Ireland is detailed and the impact of the policy of successive Irish governments on the development of the forestry sector in Ireland is described. The interaction between agricultural and environmental policy and forest policy is outlined. Forestry legislation and forestry taxation is reviewed is detail.
