This course is designed to introduce students to the subject, and to investigate possible applications of the concepts that are related to Corporate Finance. As a result, the course will consist of a series of lectures, and creadings. A lecture format will be used to introduce students to each topic, and readings will provide a review of the more recent developments in the theory, and their possible applications.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module students should be able to:

Demonstrate their ability to use and interpret financial information, when assessing company performance.

Explain the more important appraisal techniques, and have a knowledge of recent developments in this area.
Be aware of how required rates of return should be determined, and of the required inputs.

Demonstrate a knowledge of investment appraisal, including the more recent developments in the literature.

Explain the main elements of theories relating to the relationship between risk and return, including both academic and practical contributions to the topic.

Describe the sources of capital available to companies, and evaluate the attractiveness of each.
