Academic Year 2023/2024

NovaUCD, guest speakers from the School of Agriculture and Food Science and the Innovation Academy will deliver lectures, workshops and discussions on Commercialisation, Intellectual Property, Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Fellows to understand the process of commercialising their research. In addition sessions on Research data management, measuring and maximising your research impact and research integrity will be covered along with a session on writing clear, engaging, and persuasive funding proposals.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module Fellows will be able to:
1. Understand the process of the USP, IP and competitive advantage.
2. Describe the role of design thinking and innovation in entrepreneurship.
3. Give a preliminary account of how they propose to build their business plan, identifying the gaps in their plan and what they need to do to develop the plan further.
4. Appreciate the importance of RI to minimise the risk of research misconduct
5. Explore research data management with a view to improving ways to engage and share data
6. Critically evaluating the process for planning for impact considering beneficiaries, goals and evidence throughout a research project.
7. Structure and write a grant proposal including supporting documents such as letters of recommendation and career statement and impact.
8. Be capable of forming strategic partnerships and collaborations to strengthen grant proposals
