FDSC40770 Supervising & Mentoring

Academic Year 2023/2024

UCD has been at the frontline of Supervisor support and Development. The Research Supervisor Support & Development Programme is a new series of workshops, targeted at new inexperienced research supervisors. These collaborative webinars address common research supervisory practices and challenges and include panel discussions with experienced research supervisors, experts in the field, professional staff, and students.
In addition, a live session with the Postdoctoral Developer Tara Hughes will focus on the skill set of a mentor including establishing a mentoring agreement and setting SMART goals for the mentoring partnership. Sessions on networking, negotiation and self-motivation techniques will also be provided allowing fellows to plan, monitor and reflect on strategies to overcome procrastination and perfectionism and maximise productivity to build on personal impact.
