EEEN40090 Power System Design

Academic Year 2023/2024

Power system transients classification by time scale. Surge phenomena: Lightning. Lightning induced transients. Switching transients. Transient recovery voltages. Travelling waves in transmission lines. Short circuit calculations: Analysis of power systems under symmetric and asymmetric short circuit conditions according to IEC 60909. Power system protection: Principles of power system protection, components of power system protection systems, design and application of power system protection systems to selected power systems. Stability: Analysis of the transient stability and voltage stability of basic power systems.
