With early childhood inclusion as its focus, this module would focus on children in the early years aged from birth to 8 years. This module would provide an introduction to the key principles and theoretical foundations in early childhood inclusion and their application to different groups of children with diverse needs and backgrounds. Participants will be encouraged to link theoretical perspectives and empirical studies for critical examination within the local context.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, participants will be able to:
1. Define early childhood inclusion
2. Articulate the guiding principals in early childhood inclusion such as family-centered, transdisciplinary, and evidence-based
3. Understand the system and processes for identifying young children at risk for special needs in the international and local literature
4. Describe early childhood inclusion service programs, policies, and initiatives in Ireland
5. Identify the needs of a child and the family and develop an individualized plan to facilitate inclusion
6. Evaluate and assess the process and outcomes of early childhood inclusion programs and efforts
