Students will learn how to use library and online tools to source the literature (databases, search engines etc); students will learn how to carry out an appraisal of existing literature; students will learn how to use the literature review to prepare a series of academic questions to investigate, develop written critiques of samples of academic papers/journal articles, and learn to synthesis/analyse academic writing (book chapters, articles, reports).

Student will learn how to develop their own Literature Review in such a way that it provides a clear account of secondary literature, without breaching any of the regulations concerning plagiarism.

Students will learn how to prepare their written work using academic conventions, and learn how to proof and correct written work. To develop the necessary skills (including library use), and to benefit from the learning, the module coordinator will commence working with the class during trimester one, and continue giving inputs in trimester two, while delivering the main content in trimester three, in workshops, seminars and classes.
