The aim of the module is to develop students' skills in the identification of strengths and needs of neurodivergent students and in the formulation of psychological reports across a variety of professional placements. The school placement provides an opportunity to get insight into and reflect on the area of Special Education Teaching (SET) provision at whole-school level in order to develop an understanding of the policies and practices relating to meeting the needs of neurodivergent students in mainstream and special schools, including identification and assessment, the various options for delivery of additional support, interventions, the monitoring of outcomes and working in a consultative way at a systemic level with parents, teachers and allied health professionals.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students should be able to:
● Critically explore and discuss the issues involved in inclusive educational provision for neurodivergent children and young people.
● Competently administer and interpret tests of attainment in language, numeracy, and literacy.
● Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the aetiology of, and identification of the main neurodivergent presentations.
● Competently and independently write psychological reports.
