This module offers students the opportunity to critically reflect on their professional practice within their school; and enables them to develop leadership and collaborative skills to undertake projects that initiate or improve aspects of current inclusive practice.

Students will critically reflect on their professional development within their own context of practice, self-directing their own professional development with structured support. Students will also engage in reflection and analysis of their school’s policies and the structures, and develop leadership and collaboration skills, to devise approaches that will enable effective inclusive cultures and practices within the whole-school community. This includes the designing, implementing, and evaluating a new or existing initiative (e.g., collaborative teaching practices, participatory practices) within the school community. Students will explore specific national guidelines and policies (e.g., critical incident management, behaviour policy, child protection), and reflect on their implementation in their schools in line with professional ethics and values. This module also focuses on developing skills to collaborate with students with additional needs and their families to co-create inclusive school practices. In addition to multiagency working, with students developing competencies to collaborate with external agencies and professionals, such as NEPS, Child & Adolescent Mental Health Clinics (CAMHS), HSE Social Workers, and NCSE Inclusion Support Service.
