This course enables participants to appreciate the contribution that Psychology can make to an understanding of the dynamics of school life and of the school as an organisational system. Furthermore, an understanding of the practical applications of psychological theories and intervention strategies will be fostered too.

Among the topics that may be considered are:Self-Esteem Enhancement, Non- Attendance at School, The Psychology of Studying and of Examinations, Social Psychology and Teacher Stress.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module, students will be able to(1) Assess critically the contribution offered by each of the differing theoretical perspectives on the topics under consideration;(2) Evaluate the practical applications that follow from the theoretical viewpoints;(3) Demonstrate an understanding of the major research findings in each of the areas studied;(4) Through the application of psychological theories and intervention strategies, begin to solve everyday problems encountered in schools.
