ECON30310 Economics Research Project 3

Academic Year 2022/2023

Students write a research project on a topic of their choice (subject to the approval of this topic by the module co-ordinator or his/her nominee).

The School of Economics will provide classes on technical skills such as software use that will help students to begin work on their project outlined in a proposal which they will have completed in the previous trimester.

Students will be required to meet a staff member individually twice in the trimester . the first meeting will be early in the trimester and the second later. These meetings are designed to give the student guidance on how to make progress with their project and overcome any difficulties they are incurring. They must demonstrate to the staff member that they have made a satisfactory level of progress on their project at each meeting.

Students will be required to produce a poster which will outline their project and progress to date in terms of results etc. They will give a short presentation to a staff member and answer some questions, this must be done to a satisfactory standard.

Failure to comply with these requirements will be regarded as failure to complete the module and students will only be exempted in extreme circumstances and subject to the approval of the module co-ordinator.

The suggested maximum length of the project is 7000 words.
