Curricular information is subject to change.

This module introduces students to the practical side of economics: how economists find, use, and communicate information in real-world contexts. Through weekly activities, guest speakers, and a group project, students will explore how economics is applied in the real world – across sectors such as policymaking, regulation, consultancy, central banking, international organisations, and research.
The module also supports the development of essential academic and professional skills including information literacy, collaboration, presentation, and reflective writing. In addition, it encourages early career exploration by helping students understand the range of career paths open to economists, and begin developing practical skills such as CV writing and professional communication. Attendance and active participation are expected, particularly for workshops and presentations.
