Curricular information is subject to change
On completing this module, students will be expected to be able to:
1. Write a feasible, convincing and fundable plan
2. Conduct independent research and identify appropriate evidence and resources to support the plan
3. Demonstrate enhanced team working, creative, project management and problem solving skills
4. Apply advanced collaborative work strategies and project management skills, and demonstrate effective written and oral communication and presentation skills
The plan, allocated 10 credits, is a very substantial component of your overall degree. More particularly it is a great opportunity to gain experience in writing a good plan - an experience you are likely to draw upon in your future career.
Your task in this module is to work in teams to research, develop, write and pitch a feasible, convincing and financially sustainable strategic plan for new arts/cultural initiative.
This is a project-based module which means it is largely self-directed. However, there will be a number of workshops and check in points to help you tool up on the key skills you will need along the way, including input on finance and entrepreneurship and funding. As just a seven-week module it moves fast. The clock begins on the strategic plan with our briefing session on the first week of the module. In this module you will:
Work in teams to develop research, and write a feasible, convincing and financially sustainable strategic plan for an arts/cultural/heritage initiative of your own design
You will, as a team, create a brief video ‘trailer’ for this idea
You will, as a team, ‘pitch’ this idea at the end of the module to a panel of experts and your colleagues in the class
Individually you will write up a brief reflection on your experience of doing the assignment
