This module is a preparatory module for your writing project.

Credits are to be awarded on a Pass/Fail basis, based on the completion of the following:
• Creative Project Proposal: A written document outlining the planned creative project, followed by the presentation of this proposal.
• Submission of the first sample of the work
• Engagement with the supervisory/developmental process
• At the end of the semester, students will make another submission of a sample of creative work (10 pages estimate), and also a sample of the critical reflection (5 pages), and, finally, a short report outlining the progression of the project (500 words)

Please note:

Students are not allowed to submit work that has been previously assessed as a significant component of a module. Work that has been drafted as a writing exercise in any class can be.)

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

At the conclusion of this module you will have:
1. A greater understanding of the development of a project from concept to creative work.
2. A practical understanding of how to plan and outline a longer piece of creative writing.
3. A greater appreciation of writing in the literary genre of your choice.
4. An increased ability to reflect critically on your writing process and your own creative work.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Approaches include one-to-one supervision embracing conception, development and delivery of creative project; practical criticism; strategies for redrafting and enhancing work-in-progress.
