Writing (More) Fiction CRWT20030 builds on Writing Fiction CRWT20050, further developing the skills and techniques of writing long and short form fiction. Students will study published works of fiction, analyzing elements such as structure, character, dialogue, setting. They will then experiment with these elements in their own fiction writing through writing exercises and prompts. Peer review, discussion, and revision will ensure the practice-based character of the module. Texts to be selected by the Module Coordinator and circulated in advance of the start of semester.

On successful completion of the module, you will be able to



comment analytically and critically on a range of assigned texts

identify craft techniques used in these texts

experiment with these techniques in your own writing

strengthen your ability to revise your own fiction

show understanding of a range of theoretical and aesthetic concerns related to

the craft of fiction
