The purpose of this module is to provide recognition and learning regarding placements completed at external research locations during a research degree (PhD, MD or research MSc). The student completes a plan in advance identifying objectives and plans at both the research level and at the professional development level. A final report covering both aspects is then submitted at the end of the placement, giving insights into what has been learned by doing the placement.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

Match up expectations and outcomes before and after a placement, giving insights relevant for future career decisions. Appreciate what value, and missed opportunities, and learnings are realised during a placement carried out as part of a research degree.

Indicative Module Content:

This is self directed reflection on the plan for the placement, and reflection on the progress and outcome of the placement, at both the research and the professional levels. There is no formal taught content.
