CHN30070 Enhancing Chinese Language

Academic Year 2023/2024

This module aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop linguistic fluency in listening, speaking, reading and writing while living and studying in China. It is designed specifically to enhance the learning experience of students on Stage 3 of the Bachelor of Commerce (Business with Chinese Studies) programme during their time abroad.
The module is a core requirement for the satisfactory completion of the Stage 3 study in China.

Learning Outcomes:

Upon completion of this module, the students will be able to:
1) Demonstrate the ability to present and discuss a relatively wide range of topics in Chinese and to communicate with native speakers at a high standard. This demonstration needs to be assessed.
2) Master at least 1200 high-frequency words in comprehensive skills.
3) Achieve HSK level 4. This level can be interpreted as higher intermediate or pre-advanced level, which will prepare students for the advanced level language course in Stage 4.
