On completion of this course, students will be able to:
1) understand extended speech and lectures and follow even complex lines of argument provided the topic is reasonably familiar.
2) make regular interaction with native speakers of Chinese with a degree of fluency and spontaneity.
3) present clear, detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to their field of interest.
4) understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar subjects regularly encountered during school and leisure time
etc.
5) describe experiences and events; briefly giving reasons and explanations for plans.
6) employ basic business-related vocabulary to describe business interests, business invitations and career plans.

Students who are native Mandarin speakers are not eligible to take this module as an elective.
The lecturer reserves the right to assess the language competence of all students. Students whose competence is incompatible with the level of their chosen elective module will be advised to transfer to a more appropriate language module.
