Through in class lectures, assigned secondary scholarship readings, translation exercises, class discussion, and independent research assignments, students will gain an introductory understanding of cultural debates within modern China. Primary texts will be provided in Chinese, allowing students to will expand their vocabulary and the command of Chinese grammar.
