On completion of this module students should be able to: (i) devise, and evaluate, synthetic routes to hydrocarbons and to mono and difunctionalised target compounds, (ii) demonstrate familiarity with the principles and methods of enantioselective synthesis, and devise synthetic routes to enantioenriched target compounds and (iii) demonstrate an understanding of radical chemistry and redox potentials of organic molecules; predict outcomes of various organonitrogen reactions.

This module is intended for students in the final year of an Honours Chemistry degree program or post graduate students in a Chemical discipline. Other students wishing to take this module must have a comparable background in chemistry and must consult the School.
