Learning Outcomes:

Indicative Learning Outcomes: By the end of this course, students should
 Have a knowledge of the Transportation system;
 Have an understanding of the roles of different transportation modes.
 Have an understanding of the key transportation technology and be familiar with the basic concepts about the transportation system.
 Understand concepts of Multimodal Transportation.
 Understand issues of the Transportation system.
 Build the knowledge foundation in Transportation Engineering and understand its potential applications in Transportation, City Planning and major Environmental projects.

Indicative Module Content:

This course gives an overview about the transportation system. Transportation engineering focuses on the infrastructure of transportation and all the elements which support the movement of goods and people. The course explains how to apply the technologies and scientific principles to the planning, operation and management of facilities for any mode of transportation. This topic conveys an understanding of the importance of transportation in modern society by presenting selected characteristics of existing transportation systems, their use and relationships to other human activities.
