BSEN40710 ME Biosystems Engineering Thesis

Academic Year 2023/2024

Students will undertake a project involving experimentation, analysis or design. The results of this project will be presented in a formal mini thesis. Students will develop the skills required to manage and organise a major project. They will appraise and assess existing theories and present the findings and conclusions of their work both verbally and in a formal report. The students will write a short paper on their research for publication in our internal annual research report.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of the module students will have the ability to:
- understand the experimental method, where relevant, and how it's application can lead to new insights;
- draw up and execute a research plan;
- extract and evaluate information relating to a new area of research;
- analyse, interpret and present results of research;
- communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Each student will have a thesis supervisor from the academic staff of the school. The supervisor will direct the project as appropriate. The student should meet with the supervisor on a regular basis for advice and direction.
