• knowledge and understanding of the functions and responsibilities of key elements of the organisation in which they worked;
• skills in applying academic learning in the workplace, which can vary with the nature of the work placement;
• an appreciation of safety in the workplace;
• skills in working in unfamiliar situations;
• communication and interpersonal skills;
• skills in working effectively with others including with their boss or clients;
• skills in acting professionally and taking responsibility for demanding tasks;
• self discipline in applying themselves to the required tasks and managing their time effectively;
• some ideas on what they would like to do after they get their degree;
• a critical reflective understanding of their experience in the workplace.
