BSEN30190 Agricultural Mechanisation: Hydraulics and components

In this module, you will be introduced to the systems, units and components of state-of-the art and automated agricultural machinery. These will be analysed with particular reference to hydraulic component design and efficiency. The module will cover agricultural hydraulics including pumps, valves, cylinders, motors, filters and integration of components into a system. The module will also introduce students with no previous design experience to computer-aided design.

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module the student will be able to:
- describe the principles of operation of an open and closed center hydraulic circuit
- compare and contrast the functionality of hydraulic components used in agricultural machinery
- interpret data in agricultural mechanisation and write scientific reports
