Curricular information is subject to change.

In this module, you will study the design, selection and operation of agricultural mechanisation systems with an emphasis on evaluation criteria for the management of mechanisations systems and integration of components into a system. The module will cover basis engine operation, tillage systems, sowing, chemical applications, harvesting systems and machinery management.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module you should be able to:
- analyse the 4 stroke engine operation
- evaluate compaction and its impact on root growth and soil strength
- examines tillage operations and principles (primary and secondary)
- evaluate sowing systems and subsequent spraying and fertiliser systems including material handling systems
- assess and evaluate grain harvesting systems
- analyse machine performance parameters
