This module is delivered fully online and covers the measurement, abatement and dispersion modelling of atmospheric emissions from a variety of sources. Topics include: Air pollution and human health; Legislation; Sources of air pollution; Measurement techniques; Air pollution control systems; Meteorology; Climate change; Atmospheric dispersion modelling. The module will include online lectures, videos and demonstrations by the lecturers, interactive learning reinforcement quizzes, and interactive discussion boards relating to air pollution problems.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this module, students will be able to: Describe the impact of air pollution on human health; Outline the regulatory standards and legal aspects of air pollutant emissions; Describe the major sources of air pollution; Explain the principles of meteorology and climate change; Outline the main methods for measuring concentrations of gases and odours; Describe the operation of air pollution control systems; Explain the principles of atmospheric dispersion modelling; Apply mathematical equations to solve air pollution problems.
