Strategy deals with decisions made by managers of organizations to align their internal assets and capabilities to the external environment to survive and prosper in the long term. Organizations that succeed in the long-term place significant emphasis on strategy development on an on-going basis. The module emphasizes analytical and synthetic reasoning to the strategy development process and apply fundamental theories and frameworks to real life business situations in a variety of industry contexts. In particular the module will cover sustainability of competitive advantage, business growth, globalization, corporate expansion strategies and the management of diverse business operations from a strategic perspective. An analytical approach is taken to the discussion of cases.

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module participants should be able to:
1. Describe the main theories and frameworks relevant to business strategy and the strategy development process.
2. Apply fundamental theories and frameworks to real life business scenarios in a variety of industries, with a particular focus of technology-based industries.
3. Integrate ideas and knowledge from other business disciplines into their strategic reasoning.
4. Work as part of a team to evaluate business scenarios and formulate strategic recommendations
