This module focuses on the behaviour of individuals and groups in organisations. It reflects on the complexity of contemporary organisations and the challenges and opportunities that exist within organisational life. It is a multidisciplinary subject drawing from the fields of psychology, sociology, engineering, political science, anthropology, management and organisation theory. This module will address a range of themes including individual behaviour, motivation, group dynamics, leadership, culture and change. Which the teaching is based on sound research, this is very much an an applied discipline offering insights that can add value to a person's everyday working life.

There is also a strong emphasis on building self-awareness among participants with a view to enhancing individual leadership capability.

Learning Outcomes:

Having completed this module and its assessments you should be able to:-
• Demonstrate a clear knowledge and understanding of human behaviour in organisations and of the complexity of organisations themselves.
• Critique theory and be able to interpret its practical application value to contemporary organisations.
• Demonstrate an understanding of effective leadership practice.
• Analyse group behaviour and the factors affecting their performance in organisations.
• Appreciate the complexity of personal and organisational change.

How will my Feedback be Delivered?

Individual Essay - feedback to each person Research Project - students may submit a proposal of their project and receive my comments/advice on suitability. This is optional for students. Additionally, once final grades are published students may request feedback on their projects. Simulation scores will be linked to a grading rubric.
