This optional module is designed for business students to facilitate their personal and professional development. Students will develop an understanding of what it is from a work perspective that motivates them and their own strengths so that they can find fulfilment in the workplace. Students will learn about career options available to business graduates and approaches they can utilise to independently research these possibilities. Students will create a career action plan and will learn how to navigate recruitment processes, gaining practical experience of CV preparation and interview technique. Throughout this module students will develop their employability skills including teamwork, effective business communication, digital profile and commercial awareness.

Learning Outcomes:

This module will provide students with the opportunity to:
• Develop self-awareness by enhancing understanding of their key motivational drivers in the workplace including their
values, interests, personality and skills
• Gain insight into the range of career paths open to business graduates and approaches to independently researching these options
• Enhance their understanding of the employability skills sought by recruiters and develop a range of skills that are highly valued in the workplace
• Identify their career goals and ways to achieve them
• Actively gain experience of how to market themselves when applying for positions in both in written applications and in interviews.
• Utilise digital media, such as LinkedIn, to build professional networks and advance career options.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will attend classes for this module and have the opportunity to engage in active learning during these sessions. There will be in-class discussion and group work to analyse module concepts. Where appropriate, the module will incorporate case based learning.
