Operations and supply chain management play a key role in executing an organisation's business strategy and achieving sustainability goals. These functions create, manage, and improve manufacturing and service processes, and oversee the flow of goods and services. This module equips students with key concepts, tools and techniques to design, manage, and optimize operations and supply chains through a sustainability lens. Students will build in-demand skills to drive operational and sustainable excellence, enabling them to thrive in roles across operations, supply chain, and consulting. Through exercises and cases, they will gain hands-on experience solving real-world operations and supply chain challenges, identifying root causes, exploring sustainable alternatives, and implementing impactful improvements. They will also learn how to leverage emerging technologies and harness data to unlock innovations that benefit the environment and society. This module prepares students to drive sustainable operational and supply chain excellence and strategic impact in their future careers.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:

1. Explain key concepts, theories, and practices in sustainable operations and supply chain management.
2. Analyse the relationships and trade-offs between sustainability principles and operations and supply chain management strategies.
3. Apply sustainable operations and supply chain management theories to address practical challenges in various contexts.
4. Use appropriate quantitative and qualitative tools to drive improvements across key performance indicators in operations and supply chains.
5. Evaluate the potential of emerging technologies in enhancing sustainability within operations and supply chains.
6. Collaborate effectively in teams to solve complex sustainable operations and supply chain problems.
7. Communicate sustainable operations and supply chain management concepts and recommendations clearly and professionally.
