BMGT10200 Foundations of Management

Academic Year 2021/2022

This module explores key ideas, debates, and practices that have shaped contemporary approaches to management. The module will critically examine influential eras of thought and different approaches to organising and managing human endeavour e.g. scientific management, bureaucracy, human relations, and consider their social and historical contexts. It is designed to help you to weigh management ideas in context, identify fads and gain long-term perspectives to inform your thinking. It will also help you analyse and argue based on your reading. Over the course of the module you will learn lessons from the past that can be applied to key management issues of today and in your future management practice.
