This module has been designed for mature students with work experience who are returning to education on a part-time distance learning basis. This module will provide students with an overview of the field of organisational behaviour and its application in the workplace. The module will draw upon the work experience of course participants. Among the topics covered are: an introduction to organisational behaviour, individual behaviour, motivation, application of motivation theories, job design, group behaviour and work teams, conflict and negotiation, communication, leadership, power and politics, organisational structure, the use of technology and socialmedia from an OB perspective, organisational culture and the management of organisational change.

About this Module

Learning Outcomes:

On completion of this module you should be able to:Illustrate the value of concepts and practices in the field of organisational behaviour.Demonstrate your knowledge of organisational behaviour and course concepts relevant to practicing managers and how these might be applicable in your own, and other, workplaces.Understand the interrelationships between each course topic and be able to identify illustrative examples of each topic from your own work experience.

Indicative Module Content:

This module will cover a range of topics including an overview of Organisational Behaviour (OB); Perception, Personalities and Values; Motivation and Empowerment; Groups and Teams; Leadership; Power, Decision Making, Communication and Conflict; Organisational Change; Designing Work; Organisational Culture.

The topics are at an introduction level for the students.

Approaches to Teaching and Learning:
Students will attend classes for this module and have the opportunity to engage in active learning during these sessions. There will be in-class discussion and group work to analyse module concepts. Where appropriate, the module will incorporate case based learning
