ARCT41230 Linked Research Project

Academic Year 2023/2024

Students on the MSc in Architecture Urbanism and Climate Action will complete a ‘Linked Research Project’ in the Summer Trimester. This can take the following 3 forms;
- Working on an established research project with experienced researchers in the fields of architecture or urbanism, or related areas including; energy efficient buildings, smart cities, climate action policy research, environmental studies, climate change impact, life cycle analysis. This option is available through national and European funded research projects in APEP, the UCD Centre for Irish Towns, and/or the UCD Centre for Building in a Climate Emergency.
- Placement with a linked employer whom the student identifies. The student will undertake a programme of work agreed between the academic supervisor and the placement host, that will ensure the student can meet the learning outcomes associated with the module.
- Individual study in a research area of choosing by the student. This option allows for a more traditional thesis style masters research project. A supervisor with appropriate knowledge would need to be identified by the student and agreeable to undertaking the supervision and the project would need to be agreed with the module coordinator.

The research projects will be supported by workshops and supervisory meetings. Methods and practice of research will be delivered through the Research for Environmental Policy (ENVP40170) module.
