This module provides the framework for the application of urban design and other theory to practice, and includes aspects of planning and law, together with current and emerging best practice case studies, and projective urban design.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this module, a student will have ;
• Knowledge of the evolving practice of urban design in Ireland and internationally, applying this to urban design project
• examined the relationship between urban design theory and design practice, applying this to an urban design project
• the skills to interface with urban design, and to understand the various statutory bodies, the frameworks within which they operate, their roles in the urban design process, and to generate an original, individual, urban design project.
