This archaeology module provides recognition for graduate research students who have gained advanced ‘specialist archaeological skills’ through clinical/fieldwork placements that are not available within the UCD modular teaching and learning programmes. These ‘specialist archaeological skills’ may include, but are not limited to, LiDAR, Drone Photogrammetry, Geophysical Survey, Environmental/Bioarchaeological Analyses, Archaeological Materials Analytics, and Experimental Archaeology. Students will first gained agreement with their supervisors/RSP, and will then seek permission from the Director of Graduate Studies prior to enrolling in any external training. Students will normally engage in 200 hours of documented training activities, with evidence of same as part of module learning outcomes and assessment. Assessment will be by submission of a Reflective Learning Journal, in week 12, with appendices to include documentation/proof of enrolment by external provider, and analyses, texts, datalists, and illustrations as appropriate. A final interview/presentation with the module co-ordinator and nominated scholars may be required on occasion.
