Upon completing this module you will have:
1) Conducted, and usually designed, an independant research project
2) Produced a major piece of academic writing (the Minor Thesis)
3) Learned to work in a research setting, and to overcome challenges and hurdles inherent in carrying out research
4) Become part of a research community

Through researching and producing your dissertation, you are expected to develop and demonstrate skills in:
- independent thinking and higher research
- project management
- production (writing, editing, lay-out, copy-editing) of a major piece of research work, usually by writing of a dissertation

Your research will probably also lead to you becoming more confident and confident with:
- digital work places
- communicating with the public
- heritage regulation and management issues
- integrating large datasets and research concepts
- conducting archaeological field and/or laboratory investigations

Your supervisor will give you guidance and may read and comment on aspects of your dissertation. Your supervisor will not comment on the interpretation/discussion chapters. Feedback on the assessed work will be provided by two markers on a mark sheet. The external examiner may also provide feedback on your work.
